MediCrystal heating systems are built with a thin like hair resistive heating wire in double silicon and teflon thick insulation and copper braid. The total thickness of the heating element insulation is 1/4 inch which is done to eliminate and intercept the EMFs.

All our mats are built with zero EMF emission heating systems with lower than 2 milliGauss or mG emission by specs. EMFs meters like TriField or K2 if calibrated well can be used for measuring EMFs. TriField like analog devices need calibration every year. Just do not forget to compare the results with background measurements. The easiest way to measure the background is to perform test of the same mat when it is unplugged.

Mat testing should be done while it is heating up because when the mat reaches the pre-set heating level, and heating stops, there will be no EMFs detected. So it is important always to compare different mats in the heating up mode) you will not find more than 0,5 milli gauss (usually 0-0.2 mG) on all the surface of the mat besides two small 1 inch areas where bimetal switches are located and the connector where the controller plug enters the mat.

These 2 areas may emit up to 2-4 mG which is still on the safe side but these parts play important roles. Bimetals physically cut electricity if the mat starts to overheat and controller's thermostats fail. It is very important for user's safety and these parts are so small and emit much less than any standard electrical device. These bimetals sensors are installed into all high valued heating units directly contacting body. Cheap heating pads or electric blankets without extra safety system sometimes cause burns or fires but our mats provide double protection and have never fired.

If the tester shows higher than stated in specs EMFs levels, it may be so when bio-magnetic PEMF function is turned on. Both of the mentioned above EMF testers are good devices but they are not able to correctly measure pulsed magnetic waves. The maximum intensity of MediCrystal purple mats' magnetic pulsation coils rapidly changes from 0 milli Gauss to 50 Gauss several times per second which may be great for wellness and beautification. it is 100.000-200.000 times more than the intensity of harmful EMFs generated by the EMF free electric heating systems of our mats and so high intensity magnetic waves significantly affect the meter's results. Of course there is a huge difference between the healthful ultra low frequency magnetic fields ( 1-30 times per second or 1-30Hz) and harmful high frequency (Khz and Mhz range frequencies) electromagnetic waves such as emitted by micro waves, heaters, wireless equipment, etc.

If you measured without PEMF function activated but EMFs indicated are higher, it may also be the problem of the meter itself (low battery or no calibration) or the problem of the under mat floor heating system (if you measure on the electric floors). The mat will intercept at least half of heating floor emission but it may be as much as 100 mG so better to use the mat on the bed or on the floor where there is no heating or other cables.
